Enhanced Tornado and Giant Hail Risk Today

-- this forecast has been updated, please scroll up --

The NWS's Storm Prediction Center has published forecasts for later today and tonight that should capture the attention of everyone who lives in the region. If you have friends or relatives in the area that do not routinely monitor the weather, please give them a call.

Tornado Risk
The yellow, hatched area has an enhanced risk of tornadoes and some could be strong. In addition to St. Louis and the other cities labeled, this includes Joplin, Columbia, Lake of the Ozarks, Pittsburg, Rogers, Bartlesville and Muskogee.

The brown area has a significant risk of tornadoes that extends east to include Cincinnati and Louisville as well as, on the south, the northern part of the DFW Metroplex.

Giant Hail Risk
The hatched area is where hail 2" or larger is possible. In the red area, there is an enhanced risk and in the yellow area, there is a significant risk. Without hatching, hail 1" or larger is forecast to fall.

Of course, I will update the forecast later today. In the meantime, please clear out your storm shelter area, put the car in the garage and prepare for these storms.
