2012 Wheat Harvest Off to Good Start

Cutting is occurring in southern Oklahoma and in north central - northwest Texas (around Wichita Falls). Yields are reported good to excellent.

It has been dry over the harvest area the last two days which is favorable. Dry weather is needed for the combines to get into the field and the crop itself needs to be dry.

Needed rains have fallen over much of the drought area from south Texas into New Mexico three to seven days ago.
