Note to South Texas Readers...

... looking at the latest Hurricane Hunter and weather satellite data, I think it is likely we have a tropical storm in the Gulf. The updated rainfall amount forecast provides a decent proxy for its future path. 
A rough guesstimate is that it will have gusts to ~50 mph when it makes landfall and it will cause heavy rains (red on the map above). 

Update: The tropical depression in the Gulf was not given a name in NHC's 4pm advisory but they do expect the depression to become a tropical storm tonight.
