Yosemite Was Closed?!?!

I've been to Yosemite. It is vast and indescribably beautiful. People have called it a wilderness "church." The description is apt.
Until a few minutes ago, I had no idea anyone would have the insane idea to close Yosemite for coronavirus, let alone actually do such a thing. It is just too absurd to imagine. It is as if public health officials had regressed to the 19th Century "miasma theory" (mysterious, almost supernatural, "bad air" caused diseases) when dealing with coronavirus (CV).

Look at the photo above. Then, look at the photo (from one of yesterday's George Floyd protests) below.
Yet, according to public health officials, protesting is fine but you must have a reservation for the vastness of Yosemite?! Have they forgotten everything science has learned about how viral illness spreads?

In today's "throw something at the wall and see if it sticks" news from the field of public health, the World Health Organization today -- in a complete reversal?* -- stated the people without symptoms
cannot give you COVID-19! This was the reason for the shutdowns! 

Since just Thursday (four days ago), two CV studies have been retracted AND the WHO has completely reversed itself on how the illness spreads AND public health has said "never mind" when it comes to social distancing in light of the George Floyd protests. This doesn't even include the whole, "don't wear a mask"/"wear a mask - even outdoors - or you'll die! fiasco.

If, on January 2, 2020, a sinister anti-science enemy from a James Bond movie said, "How can we destroy the reputation of the field of public health in six months?" they couldn't possibly have done as effective a job as public health has done to itself. 
* Ten minutes after posting this, a Harvard physician says the WHO is wrong.

The forecast path of the center of Hilary has shifted a bit to the west. Dangerous Travel Conditions - People Reportedly Stranded

Scroll up. --- Updated Information as of 8am PDT You are risking your life if you attempt to travel through the purple area.  While the rain has not begun in coastal California, I would urge you to use this time to make any preparations. Power outages have occurred already in southeast California. Here is the latest radar as of 7:55am PDT. As of 6:40am PDT , the radar indicates moderate to heavy rain falling over desert areas of Southern California and far western Arizona (click to enlarge).  Rainfall amounts for the 24 hours ending at 7am PDT show more than two inches have already fallen. Update on Tornado and Wind Potential; 12 Noon PDT

There was at least one tornado and at least one funnel cloud yesterday.  --- original forecast --- Hilary (the swirly symbol) continues to move NNW paralleling the coast of Baja California, Mexico. The area outlined in red has a significant risk of tornadoe s the rest of the afternoon.  Below is a list of peak wind gusts so far.  Peak winds may increase farther north as the afternoon progresses.  Addition at 12 noon PDT: Sure enough, winds have increased.  Note: If you are in the San Diego area, I recommend not  traveling east on I-8. Heavy rains may cause flash flooding that will involve the highway.
