Ice Storm in Progress

The purples are areas of freezing rain and mixed precipitation. Interstate 40 is shut down near Ft. Smith due to icing conditions and Interstate 49 is reportedly very slick.

Here are the probabilities of at least one-tenth (a fairly substantial amount) of an inch of freezing rain in the 48 hours ending Tuesday morning:
That is a 70% area around Indianapolis.

Consequently, an ice storm warning has been issued for central Indiana.
There is a large area of freezing rain advisories and winter weather advisories from northeast Texas to Rhode Island. Please check your local AccuWeather Forecast for details.

If you are in an ice storm warning:
  • Minimize travel to the greatest extent possible once the freezing rain is imminent.
  • Get extra cash at the ATM.
  • Fill your gas tank.
