Tornado Threat Update, 10:40am CST

Let's begin with an overview, here is the AccuWeather Regional Radar at 10:24am CST:

The NWS Storm Prediction Center's updated tornado outlook takes the threat of strong tornadoes (hatched) farther east than the earlier version:

In fact, one of the SPC's tools (hat tip: Greg Carbin) extends the risk into Alabama during the night. While this is not the official outlook, I suggest people in Alabama monitor local sources of information starting this evening.

The latest radar (10:33am) shows severe thunderstorms (yellow polygons) crossing the Mississippi River into Mississippi with damaging winds the most serious threat. These storms will intensify this afternoon.
