Thanks for Recognizing How Difficult This Is

Yesterday, a member of a railroading blog posted this comment directed toward my forecasts of the last week:

I don't know how meteorologists such as yourself don't lose hair trying to predict snowfall amounts. So much variable in models for snow amounts

    I'm a civil engineer and land surveyor. I find it difficult to see how snow accumulation can be measured to the nearest tenth of an inch.
    In surveying we measure ground elevations to the nearest tenth of a foot.

    Can you explain?
