John " Private Jets Are the Only Choice For Somebody Like Me " Kerry said yesterday we only have " 100 Days " to save the planet. Of course, private jets are the worst mode of travel if you are sincerely worried about global warming. Forgetting the hypocrisy, these constant deadlines are just silly.  In 2013, I ran my first Tipsy From Tipping Points  piece on the blog.  I did the math this morning and 6,385 days have passed since the first of these tipping point deadlines. We are still here. 

In California, the Union Pacific's (originally Southern Pacific) Tehachapi Loop is a unique railroad venue that attracts visitors from throughout the world. There is a 24/7 camera on it and that camera captured arsonists that set a fire at the new Lookout Center that is to be dedicated Monday. The image above appears to show a flamethrower.  Seconds later, fireworks. A descending roman candle ball is at left.  A couple of minutes later, the fire was in full bloom. Because of the camera, the Keene county fire department was notified within a minute of the fire starting. Their prompt response allowed the fire to be extinguished relatively quickly.  If you wish to see the video, go here , but the recording only lasts about twelve hours. Periodically, I get questions about the meaning of a green sky. It means torrential rain, hail or both. The miles of precipitation about the ground bends the light and gives the cloud a green color. By itself, a green sky does not  mean a tornado. Yes, sometimes a green sky occurs with a tornado but that is because of the rail and hail and not because of the tornado. 

Yet several public [agencies] are under pressure to explain why so many people remained in their homes despite the forecasts of extreme rainfall and flood alerts that pinpointed most of the crisis areas at least 36 hours before the disaster. As indicated above, there are major political repercussions in Germany that pertain to last week's flooding. The story is here .  Evidently, there weather forecasts and storm warnings were excellent. But, there is an insight as to what might have gone wrong buried in the story: Armin Schuster, 60, president of the BBK, said the national warning systems had worked well, issuing more than 150 alerts through the agency’s apps, although they have only been downloaded by about 9 million of Germany’s 83 million people.  What Mr. Schuster is describing is a passive  warning system where warning messages have to be downloaded. That is a recipe for failure. Warnings for tornadoes, tsunamis, flash floods and other urgent life-threatening storm ...

Only a college professor could tweet something this evil. Dr. Bair is a professor of statistics at Riverside Community College in California, but he evidently cannot count to 49 million.  We simply cannot give the left more power. It is too dangerous to do so.

Remember all of the nonsense that February's cold wave was caused by "climate change"? Now, a " landmark study " has shown it was not true. Whether it is flooding in Germany or heat in the United States, be extremely skeptical  when reporters and climate "experts" float the linkage of a particular weather event to climate. 

The situations are not at all similar . I am fully vaccinated as are all of the adults in my family. If you are an adult, you should strongly consider getting the vaccine unless your physician directs otherwise.  That said, COVID spokesmodel Anthony Fauci is the king of misinformation as well as a politician whose advice changes depending on who is in office.  Weeks after Fauci told 60 Minutes  he was "sure" we did not need to wear masks, Fauci wore the mask when the national news cameras were on throwing the first pitch -- and then removed it when he thought he was not on camera.
