Kansas Tornado Risk Update

This is the current tornado watch in effect until 10pm. You can see the cluster of thunderstorms moving into the middle of the state.
Between now and the watch's expiration, the low-level atmospheric environment will be favorable for tornadoes and very large hail.

A new cell has developed just south of Dodge City in the last 15 minutes. There is a chance -- just a chance -- that storms may develop far enough south to affect Wichita. It is less than a 50/50 chance.

The chances of thunderstorms in Oklahoma and Texas are low due to a capping inversion.
