At last, a ruling in a case that has been bouncing around the courts for 14+ years. The ruling, however, is appalling.  More on the law suit, here .  From the behavior of the federal government's public health agencies during COVID and since, it is clear they are not on the public's side.  It is appalling the law allows drug companies to engage in a form of fraud as long as the FDA and CDC go along with it! These same government people pushed a vaccine of dubious benefit. And, the same government ( NIH ) people funded the Wuhan lab which may have created COVID. Making things even worse, the Biden Administration continues to send our tax dollars to China to fund this lab! While I do not have much hope, civil service reform needs to be at the top of the new president's agenda once he/she is sworn it. 

This has been obvious for a decade (see below, from this blog in 2012). There were times in the early teens where they were publishing real-time tornado information. It was obvious they had lost their way. The Centers for Disease Control published a great deal of mis-information during COVID and seemed to be caught flat-footed.  I hope CDC will get some new leadership that realizes the agency has just one job. 

Wednesday, the CDC was telling us about tornado warnings while using a fake picture of a tornado. Now this. It is  not  satire. Published yesterday: Our hard-earned tax dollars were just wasted to determine that heat deaths are more common where its hot than in, say, North Dakota. The next sentence is a real gem. Yeah, I needed tax dollars to be spent to tell me heat-related deaths don't occur in Montana in winter. What could be behind this nonsense? After all, I would think the CDC would be kind of busy with other things right now.  We find the likely answer toward the end. It is likely this study is intended as some sort of marker upon which to build global warming hype. Unbelievable. The CDC is obviously overstaffed and overfunded. It needs to be dismantled. In its place should be a small group of highly dedicated professionals who want to, you know, actually control disease.

I would think CDC has other things to be working on right now.

The White House and Congress can't wait until the end of the COVID-19 crisis, whenever that might be, to act. They need to clean house now.

Long-time readers may be tired of reading my comments about the federal bureaucracy in general -- and the CDC in particular -- over the eleven years of this blog. Still, because the problem worsens by the day, I'm going write about this again. Think about it: a just a month ago, the CDC was telling us not  to take the common-sense protective measure of wearing masks. Now, they have completely reversed themselves. The reversal wasn't based on some comprehensive study, it was just bureaucrats being bureaucrats. This must stop. The coronavirus crisis has put the problem in stark relief. As soon as the immediate crisis has passed, President Trump must  address this vital issue. Our nation's future is imperiled by the federal bureaucracy . My suggestions: Eliminate civil service. Federal workers should have no more and no less protection than worke...

It is my opinion that column was written so he can point to it later and say, "I was right!" It is obvious that Mr. Prager has never been in a precedented (i.e., has never occurred in modern times) situation where there are dozens of unknowns. Scott Adams, the creator of "Dilbert" has the perfect reply. Are there dumb ideas floating around? Yes. The idea that Boeing should get $60 billion from the taxpayers to fix its incompetence  (like TARP did for the banks, we don't need to repeat that awful mistake) is ridiculous.
