Major Winter Storm in the East

We've been talking about the major change in weather pattern for days and it is now in process.

While NYC, Washington, Baltimore and Philadelphia will miss out on the heaviest of snow, inland areas will face snow and ice.

Here is a preliminary snowfall map.

The NWS has published these helpful graphics. The upper graphic shows the probability of 5 to 7 inches of snow. Note that it is more than 80% from Hartford to Portland.

There is a high probability of at least one-tenth (0.1") of an inch of freezing rain (glaze ice). There is a chance of power failures in this area along with isolated power failures in the areas with the heaviest snow.
