Serious Flood Threat Developing

While you wouldn't know it from the national media, major flooding continues over parts of the middle Mississippi River basin. There is moderate flooding in the southern part of the basin.
However, I believe the flood outlook chart, which goes out five days, underestimates the flooding potential over the southern Mississippi Valley area. Here's why:

The seven day rainfall forecast.
Not only are these rains heavy (more than seven inches in the Texarkana region), they are geographically widespread. If this forecast is even close to being correct, widespread flooding will occur and it could be major flooding in many areas. Now is the time to being planning for what you would do if flooding develops.
