Image
Here are the National Weather Service warnings, et cetera. Here are the color codes: Dark green = flood watch. Please see here for more info on the flood threat.  Purple = winter weather advisory. For New York and Pennsylvania, the primary issue is snow; elsewhere freezing rain/drizzle. Slick roads are the primary threat.  Deep green (High Plains) = freezing fog advisory which could cause extremely slick roads.  Gray = dense fog advisory. Pale green are hydrological statements, none are of great importance.  DFW International Airport has average 20 minute delays due to low clouds. Those delays may worsen during the evening.  Freezing rain forecast amounts the next 36 hours.  Light green is a trace to a tenth of an inch. The darker green in one-tenth to .25 inches.

Flood Outlook - Updated 7pm Monday

Here is the National Weather Service's rainfall amount forecast for the next five days ending 6pm on Saturday. The darker amber area within the orange is a forecast of seven to ten inches of rain.  Here is the amount of rain that has fallen during the last 48 hours ending at 6pm. Flood Forecast Here is how that rain should play out in terms of flooding for the next seven days.  The dark blue area, which includes Dallas and the east part of the Metroplex is expected to experience "considerable" flooding. The light blue area is forecast to have "limited" flooding. The hatching means the flooding could come during days Day 1 through 7, which means through Monday of next week. If you live in a flood-prone area, you may wish to make preliminary precautions for flooding.

As of 12:45pm, a number of the winter weather advisories for the ice storm have been cancelled. Here's the latest display: Here is the color code: Deep purple: ice storm warning. Dark blue:  winter weather advisory.  Green: flood watch. Gray: dense fog advisory. The tan colors can be ignored. Here is the winterized radar as of 12:45pm. Keep in mind the salmon color is freezing rain. Temperatures have risen to or just above 32° so the areas of freezing rain has shrunk considerably. Unfortunately, as temperatures fall this evening, there will be freezing rain farther east.

Here is a forecast of where the freezing rain will be heaviest until noon. If you look closely, there is a turquoise oval from just south of Chicago into southwest Michigan. This is where the freezing rain will be heaviest and where power failures could occur. Above is the Illinois radar as of 9:45am  Current National Weather Service Warnings Color codes: Deep purple = ice storm warning. Pink = winter storm warning for ice (lesser threat than the deep purple). Purple = winter weather advisory for freezing rain or freezing drizzle (lesser condition). Chiefs Defeat Buffalo!!

Final Score:  Chiefs 27, Buffalo 24. We go to the AFC Championship for a record 6th time in a row.  In spite of the poor sportsmanship (snowballs thrown at the Chiefs while on the field), I genuinely feel bad for the Bills Mafia. They are great supporters of their team. Too bad we can't play the Bills in the SB.  Then, again.....
