Below is our forecast from 9:45pm Monday: And, below, is the pattern of snowfall as sensed by satellite. Unfortunately, snow had settled in places and it is not entirely accurate as to amounts.  As much as ten inches fell in northern Kansas and in southern Nebraska.  The forecast was not perfect. The pattern was a bit off with Storm #1 in northwest Nebraska. The actual snow fell at bit farther south than forecast in the Texas Panhandle.  But, this was an incredibly complex storm with two different low pressure systems (Storms 1 and 2, as I referred to them). Thirty years ago, it would have been quite difficult to achieve this level of accuracy. Now, many think of this as routine.  Weather science has made tremendous progress with this type of forecast over the past decade. 

Pivotal Weather The rain will begin after midnight Pacific time in far northwest California then will spread south reaching the Los Angeles area around sunrise on Saturday. Snowfall below:
