Weather Controversy in Philadelphia

Image
As everyone knows, there was a well-founded lightning delay during the Dallas v Eagles game this evening. Unfortunately, there was false info posted on the scoreboard. Read from the bottom, up. I don't know where they got the "severe thunderstorm warning" information. but they never should have posted it because it causes confusion for all concerned. The NWS in Mt. Holly, which covers Philadelphia, put out a tweet explaining no severe thunderstorm warning was in effect. Every professional sports team should have a dedicated private sector meteorologists. It prevents this type of issue from occurring.

The Hypocrisy of Big Environment and Big Government

Image
Can you imagine the outcry if an oil company  killed bald eagles?! Four dozen bald eagles?! Apparently, it is OK for "green" energy (wind power) to violate environmental law and for the government to selectively enforce the law. From the Associated Press : "What it boils down to is this: If you electrocute an eagle, that is bad, but if you chop it to pieces, that is OK," said Tim Eicher, a former U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service enforcement agent based in Cody. Unbelievable.

A Good News Story

With all of the bad news in the world today, here is a positive story from the Wichita area.

Eagle Watch Continues

So far, the nesting pair of bald eagles in northwest Wichita have not laid eggs.   Details here.

The Eagles Have Landed -- In Wichita!

Image
For the third year in a row, bald eagles have converged on the Arkansas River in downtown Wichita.  And, for the first time,  The Wichita Eagle   reports we have a nesting pair (great picture at the linked article). In case you aren't able to visit to see the eagles in person, here are three photos I took from our office last year.  In the background of the photo immediately below is Exploration Place, Wichita's wonderful children's science center.  (click on photos to enlarge)
