Winter Storm Update, 4pm Sunday
Above are National Weather Service warnings:It is now snowing as far northeast as Hartford. Washington has a mix of sleet and snow.
There is a good chance of at least scattered power outages in the purple areas. Please make sure you are prepared for several days without power and have essentials like prescription drugs, a full tank of gas, etc. and other necessities acquired before the snow begins.
- Orange = blizzard warning
- Pink = winter storm warning
- Purple == winter weather advisory
- Dark blue (Buffalo) = winter storm watch for lake effect snows
At this time, the storm is getting organized. Radar is from 3:52pm.
The map below is the forecast for additional snow from 6pm this evening until the snow ends at a particular area.
This is about how the radar will look 7am this Monday. The storm will intensify during the night.
My advice: Do not try to fly through the airports tonight or Monday from Washington to Boston. It is quite likely your flight will be canceled. But, even if it flies, there is a pretty good chance you'll fly into a complete mess.
The flight bringing the U.S. Gold Medal Hockey Team's flight tomorrow has been diverted from New York to Miami.
