5:30pm Update - Blizzard Warning in the Northeast
A Nor'easter is going to bring blizzard conditions to tens of millions in the Northeast starting Sunday afternoon and not ending until Tuesday before exiting into the Atlantic.
Travel will be crippled and there will be a few power outages. I urge you to make preparations now.
Forecast Snow AmountsNew York City will have between 14 and 23 inches [updated 4:15pm] depending on which part of the city and the exact path of the low pressure system off the coast. The NWS has increased The forecast snowfall is 18 - 24" for Boston with drifts.
New York Tri-State Snow Amount Forecast
The forecast amount for Central Park is 18" with drifting due to wind gusts to 45 mph. Many roads, particularly on Long Island will be closed due to blowing and drifting snow.

If you are planning to fly to or through (changing planes) in:
- Washington, especially Dulles
- Baltimore
- Philadelphia
- New York/Newark
- Providence
- Boston
between Sunday afternoon and Tuesday noon, I would strongly urge you to make other plans because the risk of being stranded is high. I believe Amtrak will be shut down. Some highways will be impassible.

Note the extreme impacts on Long Island, Queens and Brooklyn. It is important to take this seriously.
