The original forecast (scroll down) is still on track. As of 10pm CST, there is considerable snow falling over the mountains of Colorado which indicates the  forecast is on track. I will do a complete update tomorrow morning.

This storm will be sufficiently serious you may wish to alter your plans if you are changing planes in Chicago or Milwaukee or driving through the area where the winter storm is forecast to occur. I wish all weather and climate scientists were as honest and on the level as Dr. Cliff Mass of the University of Washington. While he calls global warming a "profoundly serious threat to mankind," he agrees with me and others that it certainly did not cause or significantly worsen Northern California's Camp Fire which has caused 79 confirmed deaths (worst in the history of the state). Dr. Mass says , And beyond the heart-wrenching losses noted above, it is doubly tragic that this disaster was both foreseeable and avoidable, resulting from a series of errors, poor judgment, lack of use of available technology, and poor urban planning. It is more than unfortunate that some politicians, environmental advocacy groups, and activist scientists are attempting to use this tragedy as a tool for their own agenda, make the claim that the Camp Fire was result of global warming. This is the 40th anniversary of one of the best episodes of any television situation comedy -- ever: the "Turkeys Away" episode of WKRP in Cincinnati.  Unfortunately, you can't just find the entire episode without commercials any more. But, you can see the entire episode in high quality video -- well worth your time -- by clicking here . If you are not familiar with WKRP  it is about the lowest-rated radio station with a hapless manager and interesting characters. [Addition: it will air on METV this Thanksgiving evening.] Its humor holds up well today. However, if you want to see only the best part, begin the episode and then advance to 16:35 (which will cause you to see a few more commercials) and stay till the end. So now global warming is going to cause the end of the world. This " new study " is the same old thing with ever more outrageous claims. For example, I have enlarged one of the figures that purports to show the effects of global warming. Of course, this blog and many others have documented  similar lists  -- with links -- that have been on the internet for years. All I can think of is that the holiday week crew at CBS News ("Is this the way the world ends?") is extremely gullible, or biased, or both.

Here is the NWS's precipitation amount forecast valid through 6pm CST Sunday evening. Please note the two areas where more than seven inches are forecast in the mountains of California. In the burn areas this will cause mudslides.
