Tomorrow is the First Day of the 2024 Hurricane Season

June 1 is the traditional first day of hurricane season.

I'm happy to report there is nothing in the way of tropical storm activity in the tropics at this time.

We provide tropical storm and hurricane forecasts on the blog but we do not do the "there may be something off the coast of Africa that could be a problem in ten days" thing done by The Weather Channel and others.
By the way, the Here it Comes was issued eight days ago and -- surprise  -- nothing happened.

Generally speaking, we begin coverage about five days out. Our forecasts will, at times, vary from others. In some cases, such as Hurricane Ian, our forecasts can be significantly different.

Let's hope that the forecasts of active 2024 hurricane season are incorrect.
