9:53am CDT Update on Michael

Update from NHC at 10:45am EDT/9:45am CDT:
As indicated below, that is an increase in wind speed as well as a drop in pressure.

Here is their latest path forecast which agrees with the map below. Note the storm is still a hurricane when it reaches the Florida-Georgia-Alabama border. It will still have dangerous winds and will still be causing power failures.

Based on data from Hurricane Hunters inside Michael, the storm is continuing to strengthen. The path is little changed from last night.

Wind gusts of 140 mph are possible in the red-brown area near the coast.

At least as dangerous is the extreme storm surge, now expected to reach 13' on top of ten foot waves!
Please follow evacuation orders and get out of if you are ordered to leave.
