Impressive Thunderstorm Outbreak

The experimental computer models that attempt to forecast what the radar will look like show an impressive thunderstorm outbreak across the central third of the U.S. beginning late this afternoon and continuing overnight.

Here is the 6pm radar forecast for the north central and south central U.S. from the NWS:

By 9pm, the northern area of thunderstorms has weakened somewhat while an impressive thunderstorm line races across the central Plains.

While I would not focus on exact locations shown, the chances for thunderstorms with large hail and damaging winds in these general areas do seem to be increasing.

I'll post updates later today.
