Update: I-80 is closed from Rock Springs to Laramie.  This is the forecast radar for 10am MDT tomorrow (Monday). 

The NWS is forecasting the potential for violent tornadoes over southeast Nebraska and in a band from northeast into south central Kansas.  The possibility exists for tornadoes from Wisconsin to northwest Texas.  The area where the most violent tornadoes are forecast to occur is the area with bold diagonal hatches from southeast Nebraska, into extreme northwest Missouri and into south central Kansas.  The dashed hatching is where strong tornadoes are forecast to occur. In the red area, there is a high  risk of tornadoes In the yellow area, there is an enhanced risk of tornadoes. In the brown area, there is a significant risk of tornadoes.  If I lived in the highest risk area, I would prepare by making sure my car can be put in the garage and I would bring in lawn furniture. There is a significant chance of tornadoes, very large hail, and damaging thunderstorm winds in the central United States both Sunday and Monday.  Below is a tornado forecast for Sunday and Sunday Night called "Nadocast." It is usually quite good. It is valid from 6:30a Sunday to 6:30a Monday.  Note that the highest probability is in northwest Iowa (hatching = strong tornado potential). But an enhanced risk (yellow) extends as far south as central Kansas.  I will more on these threats Sunday and Monday.

This ought to be a great movie if it is well produced and directed. It is the gripping story about the meteorologists (one in particular) under extreme pressure to make the critical forecast for D-Day.  It opens in two weeks.
