Great News: Part of Michael Mann's Phony Lawsuit Dismissed

Details here .  Even though Mann filed the suit, he has not pressed the suit in court because it is meritless. After eight years, the judge should toss the rest.

A Great Book For Tornado Season

Image
Warnings  explains how meteorologists work amazingly hard to provide life-saving warnings of tornadoes, hurricanes and aviation hazards. A review from Barnes & Noble : I love reading books about the weather, and there are several great books out there about grand-scale disasters that shape us. WARNINGS looks at these storms through the lens of a meteorologist dedicated to predicting storms. Mike Smith shows us how these major storms have shaped our understanding of the science of weather, as well as how our growing understanding of weather shaped our ability to warn citizens, plan for disaster, and ultimately save lives. It is also a history of the meteorologists who continued to study dangerous weather and a government that stymied them at almost every turn. It's a smart, fascinating, and highly accessible read. It is available from booksellers everywhere as well as B&N and Amazon .

A very dangerous 36-hour period for tornadoes in the South. Here is the breakdown of the data contained in the above graphic.  There is an extreme  risk of tornadoes in the purple area. This is the first time I have used the "extreme" characterization since starting the 4-point descriptions in early 2020. In addition to tornadoes being extremely likely to occur, they are forecasted to be violent. This includes Birmingham, Tupelo, Starkville, Jackson and Greenville.  There is a high  risk tornadoes, some violent, in the red area (as indicated by the hatching).  An enhanced  risk of tornadoes exists in the yellow area. A significant  risk of tornadoes exists in the brown area.  Tornado watches are already out. Check your local media. Here are safety recommendations . As if this weren't bad enough, here is the forecast for tomorrow and tomorrow night. This is a dangerous period in these areas. With violent tornadoes likely to occur, people can lose t...

'Climate Change' Is NOT Affecting U.S. Storms

Image
While the 50 United States is a relatively small part of the world, the fact is that our temperatures are not warming. This data goes back to 2003, via a state-of-the-art climate monitoring network completed that year, and there is no upward trend in our mean temperatures. So, when you read that the Texas cold wave, the Colorado snow, spring tornadoes, et cetera were caused by a changing climate this is about as stable a climate as we will ever get.
