Sunday Fun: Happy Birthday, Disneyland!

Image
Friday is the 60th birthday of Disneyland . Based on our family's experiences, it really is the "Happiest Place on Earth." The photos below are of the hosts of the opening day telecast, Art Linkletter, Walt Disney and Ronald Reagan, rehearsing for the big moment. Disney was the quiessential American entrepreneur. Reagan literally had to climb a fence to get to his first broadcast! Below is the entire  opening day telecast. This was in the era before videotape. It is well worth watching. Enjoy.

Courtesy of Dr. Harold Brooks of the National Severe Storms Laboratory. America is far safer today than it was 60 years ago. Thank your nearest meteorologist! ADDITION: Harold reminded me that credit also needs to be given to emergency rooms and first responders. They have improved protocols that save the lives of people who have been struck. Thanks, Harold.
