Here is the story of a young boy swept out of a pickup truck and presumed drowned in the Arizona flooding yesterday. It is a cautionary tale about the danger of driving into a flooded area. It is never safe to drive into a flooded area, particularly if the water is flowing. You never know whether the road has been undermined or has washed away.
As the National Weather Service says, "Turn around, don't drown."
