We would be far better off from a climate perspective if Gates merely gave up his private jet travel but he -- likely most other global warming alarmists -- suffers from extreme hypocrisy. Weather satellite image of Tonga eruption. This is an important finding.  The recent extreme heat, per computer simulation, is due to the injection of water vapor (a powerful greenhouse gas) from the Tonga Volcano. It is not due to manmade carbon dioxide.   The article was published in Journal of Climate .  Here is the abstract: You'll recall there was a great deal of speculation that summer 2023's hot temperatures, especially in the Southwest, were due to manmade global warming. Based on this study, that was not the case. The big issue is that the computer model indicates that the effect of the eruption will be around for years.
