The Flood Forecast Below is a forecast of catastrophic  flooding in the pink background from near Myrtle Beach south to the Georgia-Florida border. Bridges will be washed out. Rivers will reach "major" flood level or even set records. Local meteorologists will have more info, but if you are in an evacuation area, please get out.  The dots are major river points and the maximum forecast stage based on the color codes above. Farther north,  Forecast Rainfall Next Five Days More than five inches are forecast from parts of Virginia to New York City. Parts of  More than 23 additional inches of rain are forecast. Charleston is in the area where torrential rains are likely. 48- Hour Rainfall, So Far Here is the rainfall to 8pm Eastern time.  And, a close-up of northern Florida where more than 14 inches have fallen over parts of Lafayette and Suwannee counties.  I will update again tomorrow morning.

The eye of Debby at 9:15pm. The maximum winds are 70 mph with a pressure of 992 mb as of 8pm. Given the appearance of the storm and that the pressure has dropped to 988 mb, I suspect the storm is a hurricane with 75 mph winds or will be very shortly.  The storm should turn more to the northeast during the night. The rest of the forecast below, scroll down is correct.  There are reports of serious flooding and people trapped in Pinellas County.  Below is the radar from 5:49pm. A center has formed and Debby is moving northwest. I have underlined Miami, Key West and Cape Coral to orient Florida. Red is a hurricane warning. Pink is a hurricane watch. Blue is a tropical storm warning. The amber area is the current area of tropical storm force winds (39-60 mph). S = tropical hurricane. H = hurricane.  Debby is only expected to move about 70 miles to northeast after 2pm Tuesday. That is why makes the potential rain event so dangerous.  The widespread 7 to 15" amounts near the coast will cause catastrophic flooding. Please prepare now! In addition a life-threatening storm surge of up to 7 feet is likely along the Florida Big Bend.  Finally, there is a significant risk of tornadoes Sunday and Sunday night in the green area.
