Yet, as would be expected, there was little wind power available to help carry the air conditioning load. The actual wind energy that was being produced is in green.
As of 2 pm, the total wind generation in Texas was just 2600 megawatts out of a capacity of about 30,000. Put another way, wind was operating at just 8.6% of capacity when demand was very high!
This is what we mean when we discuss the systemic issue about wind: it fails when it is needed the most, when it is very hot and very cold.
