Tornadoes Cause Major Damage in Australia; Deaths in Bangladesh

Multiple tornadoes struck Australia yesterday. As you watch the video note the debris on the leading edge is moving from right to left. This is clockwise which is opposite of most tornadoes in the United States.

Note: See correction in comments
Radar from Perth shows the hook echo associated with one of the tornadoes. Again, backward from the U.S., just as you would expect in the southern hemisphere.

In Bangladesh, the news is tragic.

(Reuters) - A tornado swept through nearly two dozen villages southeast of the Bangladeshi capital, killing at least 20 people, tearing roofs off houses and uprooting trees and power pylons, officials said.

    Mike,
    The tornadoes in Australia were in the states of New South Wales and Victoria, so the radar image you posted is actually from northeast Victoria, not Perth (Western Australia).

There may be light amounts of freezing rain in north central Texas as far south as Waco. A major windstorm is forecast for Oklahoma and Texas Sunday.  This has the potential to cause widespread power failures.  Please prepare now. More information below.  5:35pm:  Particularly Dangerous Situation watch due to wind gusts forecast to reach 105 mph and  with hail 5" in diameter. Tornadoes also possible.  If you live in a mobile home, now is the time to determine your sheltering situation. I urge you to shelter before warnings are issued (spend the evening with friends or family). Power outages are likely.
