Breckenridge: Only The 'Essential' Businesses

Summit County, Colorado, home of the ski resort and community of Breckenridge is putting a series of draconian measures in place (even closing hotels along with restaurants, etc.) as a result of the coronavirus.  They are only allowing "essential" businesses to remain open. I find two of their choices rather curious.  All retail business locations that see foot traffic from the general public will be required to close effective 10 p.m., Monday, March 16. It should be up to you.  While I can't comment on his specific prices, people are free to purchase them or not.  If we put the 17,000 bottles on the market, it will increase supply. If the supply increases, then pressure on the supply chain will decrease and prices, overall, will come down sooner. If ...

The Airline Cutbacks: Weather Forecasting Will Suffer

The news last night that American Airlines will ground most of its widebody fleet and cut 75% of its international flights is bad news for weather forecasting. While weather satellites take measurements over oceans, they are not as precise as those from instrumented aircraft and just about all of the widebody's have instruments. The primary effects, I think, will be on the west coast of North America as well as on forecasts of more than three days' duration.

Is there any worse advice on the planet than "don't panic"?
