The area from southeast Lower Michigan across Toronto to Portland, ME will likely have freezing rain -- with the possibility of power failures -- the the storm developing in your region. Travel advisories are already out for some of these areas tonight through Friday.

Saturday: The dark green band from southeast Kansas to near Galesburg, IL is a computer-generated forecast of 0.25 inches or a little more of freezing rain. I just checked and winds in that area are forecast to gust to 20 mph Saturday night and Sunday morning. That is enough to cause power failures if the ice accumulates as expected. It will also cause difficult driving conditions.
While this is preliminary, I urge residents of this area to keep abreast of weather developments. More this evening.
