How People Died in Hurricane Sandy

This is instructive, the location and circumstances of Hurricane Sandy's victims from the New York Times. While unpleasant, this is essential information if we are to improve storm response and resiliency in the future.

It is not surprising that so many were killed in the New York City area, many by the storm surge. Did the lack of hurricane warnings play a role? What about the initial minimization of the threat? I don't know. Those are among the things the terminated Hurricane Sandy Event Assessment wanted to determine.
