I've checked the reports and it appears, in spite of the drought, the 2013 winter wheat crop is being planted on about a normal schedule.
The map above (scale at right) shows the departure from norma rainfall the last thirty days. As you can see, most areas continue to get a bit drier.
There is some good news. I still believe the period from about October 10 to October 21 will be wetter than normal in the central U.S.
