Sunday Fun: A Great Commercial About Detroit and Motown
As long-time readers know, I'm a huge fan of Motown music. I checked off an item on my "bucket list" last year with a visit to Hitsville, USA. So, I believe this Chrysler commercial featuring Barry Gordy, Jr. that co-promotes the new musical about Motown is really well done. Notch it up to HD, turn up the volume, and enjoy.
Barry Gordy, Jr. borrowed $800 from his family (yes, he had to pay it back!) to found Motown Records the label of Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, Mary Wells, The Four Tops, The Supremes and so many others. Their vocals were backed by Motown's incredible house band, The Funk Brothers. This is the quintessential American entrepreneurship story. We need more of this innovation in our nation today and I hope the "Motown Musical" is a success.
