Lightning Hits Your Airplane

A feature from AccuWeather.

I have, twice, been on airplanes struck by lightning. The most dramatic was on a 737 from LAX to DEN on descent. I could see the anvil-crawler appoaching the plane, hit with a loud "thump", then continue on its way toward the southeast.

Neither time was any kind of emergency. Planes are designed to emerge unscathed from a lightning strike.
