Model Railroading 105

I'm pleased that a second person has written to me and told me he is getting is trains out of storage as a result of this series!

I'm going to take a pause in my train suggestions for a few days due to the impending severe weather situation combined with lots of AccuWeather work (business is booming!).

In the meantime, here is how to get more information about model trains, apart from my series. First, check out train shows in your area. Here is a national list. Yes, you'll find lots of people my age, but you will also find lots of kids, parents, and people wanting to learn about the hobby. There might even be a show in your area this weekend!

Second, there are also two excellent magazines about O Gauge (Lionel and MTH-type) trains: Classic Toy Trains and O Gauge Railroading. Both are available at Barnes & Noble magazine racks and at train stores. The latter has an excellent online forum.

Weather permitting, I expect to be posting at least two more articles about getting started in model trains Monday and Tuesday.
