Christmas Week Outlook

The area from the northwest coast of California is going to have extremely active weather.

Flooding will occur in lower elevations and heavy snow in the mountains.

Here is the total amount of precipitation expected between now and 4pm PDT on Christmas Eve.

Elsewhere, heavy rain is forecast along the Gulf coast:

Starting the day after Christmas, a new -- and powerful -- storm will move into the Southwest.
Very heavy snows will fall in the higher elevations and heavy rains will fall in the already-wet areas of the Ark-La-Tex region.

Some of the models want to form a snowstorm in the High Plains but that is very iffy at this point. Keep in mind that would be eight or more days out and we just don't have any skill at forecasting snow storms that far out.

Stay tuned for more updates.
