3:40pm CST Winter Storm Update

Snow accumulations from 7 to 11 inches are quite common in central Kansas. About 5" is on the ground in the Kansas City area.

The heaviest snow the rest of the afternoon and early evening will be along I-70 from Wentzville and St. Louis to Indianpolis and Ft. Wayne. In some spots, snowfall rates will approach 2 inches/hour.

The ice storm (purple and violet shaking) will continue to move up the Ohio Valley. From putting together information from various sources, it looks like about 100,000 homes and businesses are without power throughout the region.
