I-80 Devoid of Cars

If you go straight north from Wichita to I-80, this is where you will get on the freeway: The intersection of I-80 and U.S. 81. Via my friend, meteorologist Betsy Kling, this is that intersection minutes ago. Drifts of 3' are common in the area. The blizzard continues to rage. Below is AccuWeather Regional Radar:

The low pressure system is just southwest of Wichita. It is moving east.
Meteorologists call this type of map a "streamline analysis." Where the lines are brighter and closer together, winds are stronger.

Finally, while it is dark, the "clumps" of radar echoes are dust billows from the Texas Panhandle earlier this afternoon.
