Unusually High Tornado Risk in the Middle Atlantic Region

Tornado Watch Now in Effect 

And, the first tornado warning has been issued for the area around Mt. Ary, MD.  More warnings are likely.

If you live in these areas, please monitor the weather at the first sign of thunderstorms. Get a full charge on your phone and laptop. Make sure you have "notifications" allowed to get the WEA alert and put the AccuWeather App on your smartphone.

If a tornado warning is issued:

• Go to the basement and get under the stairwell or heavy furniture.
• If you do not have a basement, go to a closet or bathroom in the middle of the house. The bathtub provides additional protection. 
• Make sure your children and friends and relatives can react quickly to a warning. 
• Wear your shoes into shelter. Take a bottle of water for each person, along with a medical mask.
