"Have Faith"

Mike was a recent speaker at the American AgCredit Regional meeting held in Salina, Kansas, this week at the Rolling Hills Wildlife Adventure. Mike spoke with the group on the importance of having faith in the meteorological industry since storm warnings are the most accurate now than any other time in history. Meteorologists are getting much better at locating storms and issuing severe weather warnings, so when a tornado is in the area and the sirens have been sounded, don't wait to see it with your own eyes before taking shelter. When you wait to confirm the threat by personalizing it for yourself, you waste valuable time that could endanger your life and it is not worth it. He said, "have faith" in the warning system.

In 2011, there were 554 deaths due to tornadoes and of those deaths, 99.4% of the victims were in both a tornado watch and tornado warning areas so don't wait to confim it for yourself. So, take Mike's advice: Have faith in the meteorologists who have your best interests in mind then seek shelter immediately.

Mike is in Chicago today at the NAMIC Commercial Lines Seminar and  will be at the TESSA Storm Conference in Ft. Worth on Saturday.
