Each State's Maximum Snow Depth

Did your father tell you about the snow up to his shoulders when he was little? Or, how the snow was up to the rooftops? From meteorologist Cory Mottice here is a map of each state's maximum-ever snow depth.

  1. Never heard of "snow up to my shoulders." I did hear plenty of "up hill both ways through 2 feet of snow." Apparently there was no summer either - it was always dark and cold with snow.

  2. I suspect this is a stunning example of lake effect; compare Illinois and Wisconsin to Michigan, for example. New York I'm guessing is hit hardest somewhere around Fort Drum.
