Forecaster Evie: Heads Up!

Forecaster Evie and I have a lot to tell you about this morning as a major storm moves into the central third of the United States.
Blizzard

There is a blizzard warning for northeast Colorado, including Denver (orange). A blizzard watch is in effect in northwest Kansas and southwest Nebraska (green).
It is quite likely I-25, I-76 and I-70 will be closed in the orange areas. The pink is a winter storm warning for heavy snow. This will also affect I-80.

Flood

These shades of green = flood watch as much as 5"of rain could fall with this storm.

Tornado and Severe Thunderstorm

Here is the tornado risk between now and 6am Tuesday. Five percent (brown) is the significant threshold.

There is an unusually high chance of damaging thunderstorm winds. In this case 15% (yellow) is the significant threshold for gusts of 58 mph or higher. The hatched area may see gusts of 75 mph or higher. This same area may have very large hail.
I'll update a couple of times later today.

Comments

  1. If this verifies this is a high impact event for KDEN. Haven't seen any waivers yet.
