Religious Freedom in Peril

While we enjoy posting our "Sunday Fun" features, this is a serious post on the day of the week when Christians traditionally worship God.
You will find information on the bill before Canada's Parliament here. Twenty years ago, no one would have dared introduce such outrageous legislation. Now, among the Canadian and US's 'intelligentsia,' this type of thinking is becoming mainstream. As we have seen with the -- sometimes violent -- protests against Israel in recent weeks, many 'progressives' in the USA are increasingly hostile to the Judeo-Christian ethic that has been the backbone of our nation for 248 years.

To give you a second example from last week, someone named Heidi Przybyla, posted the item below and repeated it -- several times -- on MSNBC.
Keeping in mind there is no such thing as "Christian Nationalism," this is an attempt by MSNBC and Democrats to influence future events by creating a slur!

With the political purpose of the slur stated, let's look at the facts. The words that our rights come from God were written by no less a person than Thomas Jefferson. While Jefferson was a Christian, he was primarily a Deist -- someone who believes in God. He owned and read the Koran as well as the Bible. In fact, his Koran has been used to swear in Muslim congresspeople.

The notion that Jefferson's words and ideas are some type of modern, sinister plot is so ignorant and dangerous that they require refutation. Bishop Robert Barron does so concisely and effectively, here

It has often been said, All that is needed for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing.

Catholic Cardinal George has said: I expect to die in my bed, my successor will die in prison, and his successor will die a martyr in the public square. Cardinal George goes on to say, His successor will pick up the shards of a ruined society and slowly help rebuild civilization, as the church has done so often in human history.

If good men and women don't stop the erosion of our basic rights, I'm afraid Cardinal George will be proven correct. Is that what we want for our nation and our children?

  1. I like what you have said. It echoes what Pastor Jackson told us this morning in his "Let's Do Difficult" sermon. He told us to take a stand and don't move. If we are indeed the Silent Majority, it's high time we change Silent to Boisterous!
