11:30p Update on Florida's Extreme Rainfall: Now Till 1pm Thursday

National Weather Service is now calling for "life-threatening flash flooding the rest of the night in the area outlined in green. Radar image 11:07p. Updated info as of 11:30p is below.
The small low pressure system will move north during the night and help cause torrential rainfall and wind gusts to 50-55 mph with scattered power outages (13,000 homes without power currently, 11:11pm). The rest of the original discussion is valid. Please see below for more information.

More than 10" has fallen near Davie in the past 48 hours ending at 10pm. 

Addition: rainfall to 11pm
There are now two areas of 10" in eastern Broward County.

As of 11:27pm, here is the radar. 
The green polygons are flash flood warnings. There is a small low pressure system over far south Florida that is moving north and will cause rains to increase to torrential levels in its path. The low is also causing the pressure to fall very quickly which is causing localized strong wind gusts. Winds gusting to 51 mph have been reported at two south Florida airports in the past hour. Sixteen thousand homes are without power. That number will likely rise. 

As of 11p: An additional 6 to 11 inches are possible by noon Thursday.
Regardless of the exact amounts, severe flooding is possible overnight. Please make sure your weather radio and/or smartphone with WEA activated during the night.

First Tornado Watch of the Day Issued

Unfortunately, the forecast is working out. A tornado watch is already in effect in Oklahoma and Texas.  This watch is in effect until 1pm.  Thunderstorms are developing in the southeast Texas Panhandle. They will move northeast and strengthen. Please keep a close eye on the weather in these areas.  I'll have comprehensive forecast up in 60-90 minutes.

Hilary's Forecast Path Shifts West; Updated 9:20am PDT

The forecast path of the center of Hilary has shifted a bit to the west. This increases the threat to the Southland, especially in terms of flooding.  Rainfall Note the heavy rains are forecast for Los Angeles County. Serious flash flooding may result. Because the forecast path has shifted to the west, that increases the threat of serious flooding in Los Angeles County north into Yosemite and the southern Sierra. It lessens the threat in Utah and western Arizona. While the threat of widespread flooding in Utah and Arizona lessens, note that some thunderstorms with localized heavy rain show up on the map.  In Nevada, the more western path increases the risk of serious flooding around Mt Charleston and into the central part of the state.  Here is the updated  (9am PDT) flash flood risk map.
