Heavy Rains for the South

Heavy rains are forecast to fall on the South over the next nine days. In southeast Texas, more than six inches is forecast.

Normally, I would be significantly concerned about flooding and that may occur on a localized basis. However, most of the area is quite dry. This is the Palmer Drought Index as of November 1.
Severe drought is present in southeast Louisiana, including New Orleans and a small part of far southeast Texas.

As of 10:34am CST, rain is falling through part of the region.
Note the second area of rain over far south New Mexico and far northern Mexico. That will move into the south central states and enhance the rain as well as extending its duration.
