9am Sunday Hurricane Update

Let's get right to it.

Tropical Storm Marco has 70mph winds but is fluctuating in intensity due to its small size and wind shear. Hurricane warning for the eastern coast of Louisiana. Tropical storm warning for Lake Ponchartrain and the Mississippi coast.

The winds are expected to arrive Monday morning.

And, here is the peak storm surge. Note this does not include tides or waves.

Now, Tropical Storm Laura. This is my bigger worry. It has the potential to be a major hurricane at landfall.
My forecast continues to be this: if you live on or near the coast between Mobile and Houston/Galveston you really need to pay attention to this one and to make preliminary plans to evacuate (e.g., a hotel reservation inland, filling your car with fuel, etc.).

I will have much more later today.
