Change in North American Weather Pattern

The weather pattern has not changed in weeks with very cold air (i.e. Chicago 7.2° colder than normal so far this month) in the East and warm, dry air in the west.

Here is the latest upper air map. I realize this looks like spaghetti but bear with me.

For Tuesday, little change except another shot of very cold air in the East.

But, at ten days, the pattern is quite different. It would mean moderation in the East and wetter, cooler weather in the West and Central states.
