Dr. Judith Curry's Video "Hidden" By YouTube

Image
This video, "There is No Climate Emergency" by Dr. Judith Curry -- one of the world's foremost climate scientists --  has been "hidden" by YouTube. That means that when you search for the video, it no longer comes up. See the results of my search, below. When Judy believed that global warming was a potential catastrophe, she was on the front page of the Wall Street Journal  and elsewhere. Over time, she changed her mind based on the complete lack of evidence that global warming is an existential problem. She also agrees with me that forecasting the climate or weather 80 years from now (all of the predictions for the year 2100) is absurd.  For Judy's scientific honesty, she has suffered a great deal professionally. For example, see this headline from Nature ,  which (until it degenerated into a shill for global warming propaganda) was one of the world's most prestigious science publications.  "Turns on her colleagues." Has there ever been a les...

Google: "Let's Be Evil!"

Image
Part One : Read this . Part Two: click to enlarge So, Google and Amazon are against  a bill that would forbid them from turning on the microphone of your computer without your knowledge! Here is the synopsis of the bill in question. I see nothing to oppose in this bill. So, Google (and Amazon) think it is okay to remotely turn on the microphone of your computer without your permission! I'm allowing my Amazon Prime to expire this month. I no longer use Google for searches or other purposes. DuckDuckGo is a great search engine which does not track you or what you do online.

Do You Really Want To Do Business With These Companies??

Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg is well known for his cynicism. He takes it up a notch here . As Stephen Green wrote separately this morning: “They will advocate some institutionalized changes in the way social media should work. Every change will involve compliance costs. Facebook will make sure that it can comply…and that its competitors cannot without great expense. That will give them a distinct advantage in the marketplace, make it more difficult for startups to compete, and guarantee this platform a leading place by law. This is why Mark readily agreed to be regulated. Regulations always work to the advantage of the largest market players.” I dropped Facebook more than a year ago and haven't missed them. Even worse, if that's possible, is Google. Any company that adopts a motto of "Don't Be Evil" is one that should be closely watched. Every time you use Google to search or use their maps, etc., you are supporting this nonsense. I've switch to t...

Now: A Bad Privacy 'Surprise' From Amazon

Image
Here's a [not!] shocker: Yes, you just paid to gave Amazon executives live images outside, and if you purchased their indoor security cameras, and inside of your home. Details here . Google, Facebook, Amazon and their ilk most certainly do not have their customers' best interests at heart.

Google Lives Down to Expectations

Just Sunday, I wrote about not trusting Google . It didn't take long for them to, yet again, live down to expectations.

Why I Use DuckDuckGo As My Search Engine....

...rather than Google. I don't want to support Google. The latest incarnation of their famous "Don't Be Evil" motto seems to have eliminated the first word. The current example (of many) is their cooperation with China to build a censoring search engine that eliminates results the Communist government finds, er, "inconvenient." Here is an example from Twitter earlier today (I just confirmed Google's definition is still the same). I have set my default search engine to DuckDuckGo with Bing as my second choice. It works just fine. Only rarely do I use Google. ADDITION: Dossiers on students . More of Google's "Be Evil" philosophy.
