Heavy Rains Next Seven Days in Central and Southern Great Plains

Heavy rains are forecast for the region in red with more than five inches forecasted for the orange area from the DFW Metroplex to the Red River area.

Below is a drought map which indicates that northwest of I-44 over Oklahoma and Kansas the rainfall will be most welcome.

To the south of I-44, there are areas of eastern Oklahoma and east Texas that are too wet and will have to keep an eye out for flooding. In general, the rain will be favorable for the 2021 wheat crop. It should also be very helpful to corn and beans except in areas where there is significant ponding.
